Volodia, a 9-year-old boy from Ukraine, improves his Cerebral Palsy Through Video Games.
Volodia never asked his parents why at the age of 9, he could not walk without help. He never asked why his little friends were playing, running, and riding their bicycle “free” from the wheelchair he needed. His mother is waiting for the day when she will have to answer the heartbreaking question. “I’ll just tell him he’s a great boy with special needs”.
One would think that nine-year-old Volodia sees nothing special in his condition that sets him apart from his peers. The reality, however, is that this is a courageous and clever angel who treats cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia in an incredible way, with which he has been diagnosed and he never complains.
Early life and diagnosis
Volodia was born prematurely, and his parents soon noticed that something was wrong with the baby’s movement. When they saw that Volodia was not crawling or walking like the other children, the MRI scan revealed cerebral palsy. For the new parents, it was the most unpleasant news of their lives.
“I could not believe it. I refused to admit it for a long time, it was hard for me to think about the future. “But now I am more optimistic when I see Volodia doing what he can to achieve his dream of riding a bicycle by using the Stasism platform. He is a resilient little boy, and he has it in him. When you see him smiling, the whole place shines”.
And for smiling Volodia’s parents, all of this gives them a glimmer of hope that with the Stasism platform, will change the way children live their lives on a daily basis, by adding fun and motivation, socialization, to their development.
“This is our great hope, to make his life easier enough, this is what we want. From standing alone to sitting in a chair and riding his bicycle”.
